We want to offer you an efficient, timely and convenient service, with less waiting and more time for complex non-urgent problems. We offer face to face and telephone appointments with GPs. Please help us to help you – if the doctor or nurse has asked to see you again, please make the appointment before you leave the surgery, don’t wait until the day you need to be seen.
If you register for online access you can book, rearrange and cancel your appointments online, at your convenience, 24 hours every day. We use a secure and confidential online booking facility called Patient Access which links directly to the Surgery computer system via the Internet. GP, Practice Nurse, Health Care Assistant, Childhood Immunisations and Medicines Optimisation appointments are available to book online.
To register for online services you will need to collect a registration letter in person from the practice once you have read and completed the documents on our Patient Online Access page. It's very important that only genuine patients are granted internet access, so you will be asked to show a form of identification e.g. driving license. We cannot accept registrations on behalf of third parties unless for children under the age of 16. If you have registered please click follow this link to go to the booking page. https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Account/Login
Online appointment booking guidance
You will be asked for the appointment reason when you book an appointment with a receptionist or online. This is very important for two reasons;
If booking with a receptionist they will allocate the correct appointment length for you providing you give them the enough information. Some problems require longer than the usual single 10 minutes, if you think this applies to you then please book yourself a double appointment by booking two appointments together. The Online appointment booking guidance is useful as it indicates how long you will need with which clinician for your appointment reason.
Please note - There is only time for one problem per appointment slot. If you need to see a clinician for more than one reason you will need to book two appointments together e.g. If seeing a HCA for bloods and blood pressure please book 2 adjacent slots
We offer regular early morning and evening appointments (please see opening times tab for details) as well as on the day appointments for urgent problems that cannot wait. If you think you need extra time to see the doctor or nurse, please ask for a double appointment. You can book your appointments up to three months in advance.
If you need to be referred for further care we offer the opportunity for you to choose your hospital and may be able to directly book your first consultant appointment.
On average around 10 hours of our valuable doctor and nurse time is wasted each month through patients that did not attend their appointments. Download the MYGP app to your smartphone where you can manage your appointments at a time more convenient to you. Make sure we have your correct mobile number for our text reminder service.

Patients should see their Dentist for problems with teeth or gums. If you are not registered with a dentist and have a dental emergency (pain, swelling, trauma or bleeding) please call the dental helpline 01539 716822.
You may book telephone consultations with our GPs. You will be given an approximate slot time to expect the call. Our Nurses are happy to talk to you on the telephone.
If you leave a message with the receptionist a nurse will call you back, you will be given an approximate time to expect the call. Please ensure you are available to take the call and we have the appropriate contact number for your location. Clinicians will be seeing other patients at other times so there is no provision to contact you later if you are not available.
Please have a pen and paper ready in case you need to remember any details of the call.
Please note, not all consultations are suitable for telephone discussion, for example chests, ears, temperature and rashes may need to be seen.
Home Visits are only for patients who cannot come to the practice for medical reasons and are at the discretion of the doctor. This is to make best use of GP time to benefit all our patients, and to ensure patients are seen with access to the medical facilities available in surgery.
Reasons for a home visit
Home visit requests are triaged by a GP in the morning and the patient may get a phone call before a visit.
If you are too ill to come to the surgery and need to be seen at home, please telephone the surgery as early as possible, preferably before 10am.
If you are calling on behalf of a patient, please provide your contact details to the receptionist as the doctor may wish to contact you before visiting. If your address could be difficult to find, please give directions to the receptionist.
If you have difficulties travelling to your appointments you may be eligible to use one of the community transport schemes operating in the local area.
For details of these schemes please download our leaflet.
