Our practice name is mentioned and this has caused some concern and confusion. Please be aware we have not shared any information regarding your registration or any medication history.
It is entirely up to you where you choose to collect your prescription or where you choose to register to have your medication delivered.

Spring brings a number of allergies for some of us.....talk to your pharmacist for advice.
Prescribing readily available medication like antihistamines costs the NHS millions every year....processing these prescriptions can cost 20 times the price of buying identical medication from the supermarket or your local pharmacy.
If you take care of the little things, your NHS can keep taking care of you.

If you feel you have urinary infection symptoms please drop a urine sample at the surgery before 12 noon and don't forget to complete the form. The nurse will check the sample and if it shows an infection we will get a prescription to you later that day.
If you do not have a sample pot at home, please ask reception for one. We are unable to test samples if they aren't in sample pots (no jam jars!). Thank you.

Patients have a responsibility to keep appointments, yet precious clinical time is wasted each month through patients not attending their appointments -time which other patients need.
If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know so we can offer it to other patients. Reply to your text appointment message by texting CANCEL if are unable to attend or via Online Access (if you are registered). Routine weekend appointments now available
The CHoC South Weekend Pre-Bookable Appointment Service is a pilot scheme offering patients weekend appointments. Your GP Practice can book you in for a weekend appointment to be seen by a CHoC doctor at either the Westmorland General Hospital or the Furness General Hospital. Please ask your receptionist / GP for details of how to book a Saturday morning appointment.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
How using EPS could benefit you?
· Instead of collecting your paper prescription from the surgery, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you and us valuable time.
· You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. Electronic prescriptions are 100% auditable, whereas paper prescriptions often get misplaced between us and the chemists.
· If you go on holiday in England and you forget your medication we can send an electronic prescription to any chemist. Which would save you time trying to register as a temporary patient.

Top Tips for your 10 minutes
Did you know that your GP appointment is only 10 minutes long? Here are some tips to most the most out of your appointment.
- One problem, one appointment. If you have more than one problem please ask for a double appointment when booking.
- Write everything down beforehand if necessary.
- Is this your first visit to the practice? Bring a list of the medication you are currently taking.
- If you don’t understand, don’t be afraid to ask again. The doctor can explain what has been said or any words you did not understand.
- Ask a friend or family member to come with you, if you would like.
- Make sure you know what happens next. You may be asked to book a follow up appointment, be referred to a consultant or for further tests. Make sure you know if you need to do anything and write it down if necessary.
Your GP appointment is 10 minutes long. Make the most of it!
